Trekking Puntiagudo

This active trekking of three days will take you to explore the area around one of the most impressive volcanoes of the Lake District: Puntiagudo. We will navigate the emerald waters of Lake Todos Los Santos, hike through secluded mountain paths, and enjoy the natural thermal waters of this unspoiled area.

Day 1 – Lake Todos Los Santos to El Callao
Your journey through Chile’s Lakes District begins by driving from Puerto Varas to Petrohué, Lake Todos Los Santos. Once there, we will take a one-hour boat ride to arrive at El Callao pier, where our hike starts. The path goes upward through the lush evergreen forest. We will walk for approximately five hours, crossing streams and rivers (hanging bridges) before the arrival to El Callao area. There we will have a home-hosted dinner and enjoy the natural and rustic hot springs of the area.

Day 2 – Hike to Lake Rupanco
After a hearty breakfast we start walking along Valley El Callao to reach Los Quetros lagoon. The hike is marked by sightings of many native birds and animals. We will break for a lunch amidst the beautiful landscapes. Afterward, we start to descend to Gaviotas on Lake Rupanco, where we will have dinner and spend the last night of our journey.

Day 3 – Return to Puerto Varas
In the morning, we will enjoy a light walk along the beach at Gaviotas. Then we will catch a ferry to navigate Lake Rupanco. At El Poncho pier, our van will be waiting to take us back to Puerto Varas. We will arrive there at around 6 pm, leaving you the rest of the evening free to explore the city.

During your tour you will stay at a rustic, family-run Bed & Breakfast. The accommodations are simple, with shared bathrooms, but cozy and very inviting. The house is made of wood and heated with an old-fashioned wood-burning stove. Guests are welcomed with southern hospitality and generous portions of typical, homemade Chilean food, always leaving content.
