What better way to start or end your Chilean skiing experience than with a trip to Chile's world-renowned coastal wine country! Chile’s move toward cool-climate viticulture began 25 years ago when innovative winemakers dared to plant in the coastal Casablanca and San Antonio regions. The valleys are now world-famous for their technology and commitment to terroir, producing some of Chile’s best white wines and cool-climate reds.

Day 1: The San Antonio Valley
Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your Santiago hotel for a 9:00am departure, heading 90 west to the coast, and arriving at Viña Casa Marín. Founded in 2000 by Chile’s first vineyard owner, Maria Luz Marín, Casa Marín has been described as one of the “most daring and innovative” vineyards in the country. Its outstanding wines have received many well-deserved awards including Best Sauvignon Blanc in the world at the Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc World Concourse in 2010. In the same year it was also named Winery of the Year by industry association Wines of Chile in 2010. Casa Marín is Chile’s closest vineyard to the coast, situated just 2.5 miles (4km) from the Pacific shoreline. You will enjoy a tour of the bodega and vineyards, followed by a tasting of some of Casa Marin’s distinctive wines.
Next, you’ll head the short distance to beautiful property at Matetic Vineyards. A state-of-the-art winemaking facility, Matetic incorporates organic agricultural practices and an architecture which optimizes vinification. In August of 2011, Wine & Spirits magazine once again selected Matetic among its 100 Top Wineries in the World and has been called a “great ambassador” for Chilean wine on the world stage.
You’ll check in to your rooms in the historic casona and enjoy a food & wine pairing lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll have a private tour of the winemaking facilities and tasting of wines from their EQ line. The rest of the evening is free to enjoy the verdant gardens, learn to make a traditional pisco sour, or explore the vineyards on horseback or bikes. Dinner this evening is in Matetic’s Equilibrio Restaurant.
