About Us

In 2003, in the midst of successful professional careers in the United States, Brian Pearson and Sira Berté decided to pack up and move to South America to pursue their passions for travel and outdoor adventure. Following several months of firsthand research throughout the continent, they settled in Chile and Santiago Adventures was born. As Santiago Adventures quickly gained respect as a dependable operator with a unique product offering, we expanded our expertise, insight, and top quality standards throughout Chile & Easter Island, over the Andes into Argentina, and most recently, to Uruguay. In each destination, Santiago Adventures is proud to work with the best local guides and drivers, winery owners, outfitters, restaurants, and hotels to ensure that every client’s experience is of the highest quality in every aspect. • Brian Pearson, Founder and CEO

U.S. native Brian Pearson is the founder of Santiago Adventures. Since arriving to Chile in 2003, he has established and directed one of Chile’s leading tour operators offering unique and exciting trips featuring the best of the Southern Cone. He has visited nearly 200 wineries in Argentina, Chile & Uruguay and has personal relationships with many winery owners and winemakers. Brian has worked closely with the Sponar family of Ski Arpa to develop South America's only snowcat resort. He has also pioneered road and mountain biking routes throughout the country.
  • Sira Berté, Founder

U.S. native Sira Berté knew she hadn’t seen the last of South America after studying in Quito, Ecuador for her entire junior year of college (Bowdoin College). Working in areas related to the region through microenterprise development, and consultancies at the IDB & OAS, she realized she needed an MBA to round-out her economic development background. Sira worked consulting for the Chilean Ministry of Economy, Ford Foundation, & UNDP, as well as working in executive education for Seminarium Internacional, all of which helped provide the seed capital for Santiago Adventures.
  • Patricia Saffery, Sales Manager

Born, raised, and educated in Santiago, Paty joined the Santiago Adventures team in March 2011. Although she has a degree in graphic design, Paty discovered a passion for the tourism industry in 2004 when she moved to the beautiful city of Puerto Varas (Lake District, Chile), looking for a fresh start and a chance to get out of the big city. It was the best decision she ever made! She loves being in contact with nature; bird watching and horseback riding are her favorite outdoor activities. During the past seven years she has traveled through Chile and part of Argentina. Paty is now back in the capital to be closer to family, but keeps a strong tie to Patagonia, as she is our resident expert on travel to the Lakes District and Patagonia.
  • Manuel Bastidas, Operations Manager

Manuel was born in Temuco, a beautiful city in the south of Chile. Though he grew up and completed his education in Santiago, his roots still remain in the south, as it was there that he developed his passion for cycling, kayaking, rafting, hiking, and the outdoors. Manuel earned his degree in Business Management, and then worked for several years leading trips and expeditions throughout all of Chile. With more than 10 years of experience in the tourism industry, he has worked extensively in the office and in the field (as a driver and guide). In September 2012 Manuel joined the Santiago Adventures team.
  • Daniela Escobar, Traffic & Operations Coordinator

Daniela is a native of Valparaíso, one of Chile’s most historic and important ports. She has a degree in Tourism Operations, and worked for two years at an agency in the beautiful southern city of Puerto Varas before moving to Santiago and joining the Santiago Adventures team in July 2011. She loves the dynamic environment of the office and frequent collaboration with the rest of the team. Being from the coast, it’s no surprise that Daniela loves the distinct landscapes of the shoreline and walking along the waterfront, especially in time to catch the colorful sunsets over the Pacific.
  • Karem Espinoza, Reservations Coordinator

Karem has been part of the Santiago Adventures team since 2008. Karem was born and raised about 70km south of Santiago, and continues to enjoy the tranquility of living outside the city. Following her studies in Tourism & Hospitality, Karem gained experience managing reservations for three well-known Santiago hotels. Karem has continued to develop her expertise at Santiago Adventures, working closely with all of our partners in hotels and vineyards to coordinate excellent experiences for our clients. In her free time, Karem enjoys spending time with her extended family, biking, learning about wine, and traveling throughout Chile.
  • Pablo Morales, Travel Specialist

Pablo was born and raised in Santiago, though he also has ample experience abroad and working with foreigners. In fact, his claim to fame in Santiago is a popular language exchange group called Spanglish that has more than 3,000 international participants. (He is one of the founders.) Pablo has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe, and even spent several months in Germany for a German language course. He has worked in the tourism industry for the past four years, and in June 2014 joined the Santiago Adventures team. In his free time Pablo loves to travel and spend time outdoors skiing, biking, and trekking.
  • Tori Creighton, Marketing Specialist

A U.S. native, Tori first came to Chile when she studied abroad in Santiago for a semester before graduating from the University of Notre Dame. As it turned out, she soon discovered that she could not be without the picturesque mountain views, the people, and the delicious empanadas for long. Tori joined the Santiago Adventures team in July 2014. She has traveled to Italy, Brazil, Peru, and Argentina (among others), which has only helped to feed her travel addiction. While here in Chile, she is particularly looking forward to exploring the south (Chiloé, Pucón, and Patagonia), learning Portuguese, and enjoying the flourishing food scene.
  • Cristóbal Yáñez, Product Specialist

Though he was born in Viña del Mar, Cristobal prefers the neighboring port city of Valparaiso, which he believes to be the most beautiful city in all of Chile. He loves the geographic diversity and gorgeous vistas that Chile offers. During his travels outside of the country he cannot stand being without typically Chilean barbecues, the Mote con Huesillo drink, and the Porotos con Riendas soup. Cristobal studied Tourism Management in Santiago, but also studied at the University of Alabama. His hobbies include playing soccer (even though he knows he will never make it to the World Cup) and trying out new beer recipes (especially Ales).
