San Pedro de Atacama Add to suitcase

Atacama Desert Crossing – San Pedro to Salta

The Atacama desert and altiplano (high plain) of northern Chile and northwest Argentina provide some of the most geographically interesting landscapes and culturally rich regions in South America.  A pre-Colombian history dates back thousands of years, and still lives on today in traditional artisan craft, festivals, and renowned archaeological museums. Expansive salt flats dotted with pink flamingoes, unique fauna such as the guanaco – a cousin of the llama – roaming the dusty, moon-like landscape, majestic purple and orange sunsets over the jagged horizon, and second-to-none stargazing bring new meaning to the phrase “natural wonders.”
