Day 1: Curicó Valley
Your guide will meet you in your Santiago hotel, and you will be driven approximately 3.5 hours south of the bustling capital to the tranquil Curicó and Maule Valleys, where vineyards flank the roads and long-standing traditions as well as a focus on sustainability produce consistently excellent, flavorful wines. Curicó is home to some of the biggest names in the Chilean wine industry, including San Pedro, the second largest winery in Chile. You will first stop for a tour and tasting at Casa Silva, the oldest winery in the Colchagua Valley, which was founded by French immigrant Emilio Bouchon in 1892. Casa Silva is known for its award winning Carménère, Chile’s signature grape.
Next, you will visit Miguel Torres, named for the famous Spanish oenologist who first introduced modern winemaking techniques to Chile, where you will enjoy a tour of the winery, taste some innovative wines from their Cordillera line, and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Continuing south, you will arrive to the Maule Valley and fourth-generation winemaker Julio Bouchon’s family farm, Santa Maria de Mingre. The hacienda-style home, built in 1890, will take you back to colonial times where Chilean “huasos” (cowboys) ride by on horseback, and nature and tranquility surround you.
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 – J Bouchon – Mingre Life
Today you will have the day to explore and experience Mingre life. Start your day exploring the private estate on horseback, on mountain bike, or on foot. Your guide will tell you about the Mingre vineyards as well as the surrounding natural habitat, identifying the native trees, birds, and other wildlife. Returning to the guest house, there is time to freshen-up before a private tour of the winery facilities, a premium tasting, and a delicious homemade lunch.
As you relax and take in the evening breeze and peacefulness of the vineyard, you might enjoy a siesta or a soak in the uniquely-crafted Bouchon barrel hot tub. For dinner, you will experience a traditional Chilean asado and, of course, continue tasting the many fine Bouchon wines.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 – Maule Valley
¡Buenos días! Enjoy a fresh country breakfast before we say goodbye to our gracious hosts and continue with our wine valley exploration. Driving deeper into the Maule valley, we will arrive to Viña Caliboro. This hidden gem is the Chilean estate of Francesco Marone Cinzano. His Erasmo blend is a unique Chilean wine that honors four centuries of winemaking excellence by the Cinzano family in Italy. We will tour the winery, which is housed in a beautifully restored adobe bodega, before our tasting and lunch.
