Skorpios III Glacier Expedition Cruise

To sail towards the glaciers of the Southern Ice Field is an experiences that enchants and motivates all travelers who love exploring unique and virgin sites. This route offers an enourmous range of glaciers which can be sighted, explored and contemplated, while you sail through icebergs or simply walk along a glacier’s moraine. The journey takes place among the Skorpios III, a comfortable and modern vessel, fully equipped to handle the rugged Patagonian conditions with ease.

Day 1: Reception and Embarkment

We will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Natales. At 18:00 hours, the Skorpios III will sail from the terminal and your journey has begun. This afternoon you willbe sailing through Seno de Ultima Esperanza, Almirante Montt Gulf, Angostura Kirk crossing, Morla Vicuña Paa and the Union Channel. Through the night we continue sailing and pass through Collingwood and Sarmiento channels.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 2: Calvo Fjord

Excursion to El Brujo Glacier

The day begins cruising through Peel Fjord, pass closely by Amalia Glacier, and you will enjoy a panoramic view from the decks. Aroudn 09:15, the ship will sail towards El Brujo Glacier, and weather permitting, passengers may be able to make a landing. After El Brujo, the ships steams towards Calvo Fjord, where you will undertake a excursion onboard the Capitan Constantino, a ice breaker, which will take guests on a tour of the Fernando, Capitan Constantino and Alipio Glaciers, among others. During this excursion, you will visit seal colonies, approach Condor and imperial Cormorant nesting areas, while being careful not to disturb the birds. On our return to the ship, we will stop at a glacier waterfall that comes thundering down through the Magellanic forest. At 18:30 hours the ship departs for De Las Montañas Fjord.

 

 

 

 

Day 3: De Las Montañas Fjord

Exploring the moraines of the Bernal Glacier

In the morning the ship will arrive at De Las Montañas Fjord, where you will be able to see five glaciers which flow from the summit of Cordillera Sarmiento into the sea, two of which are included in your tour. At 10:00 hours, you will land at the Alsina Glacier, sailing through a small channel in excursion boats, and then enter the bay of this small glacier, which abounds in color and beauty. The excursion will continue to sail along the De Las Montañas Fjord, and the next stop will be the Bernal Glacier, where we will trek through a small oak forest and cross the glaciers terminal and lateral moraines until you reach the base of the glacier. At 18:00 hours, we sail from De Las Montañas Fjord and cross Angostura Kirke. Tonight is the night of the farewell dinner, and time to reflect on your adventure, and enjoy the evening with new friends.

Day 4: Disembarkment

At 09:00 hours, the ship will arrive at the pier for disembarkation. from here guests will have the option of being transferred to their hotels, or take another excursion if it is offered by their hotel.
